Got them Green Card Blues

Did I not read a couple of months ago that in e great state of Texas the government is trying to push to make it a crime for business owners to hire illegals with the exception of agriculture and domestic industries? How is that even on the table?
All I know is that my family came here a hundred or so years ago without a green card. They found employment, housing and made a life here for themselves. If they pay taxes, I say let the green cards flow.
