So heart breaking,Seems to me they were doing nothing illegal.Hmmm, I see children living in parks with their parents here in Denver. We have over 10,000 homeless here but few beds for the woman, and none for couples with kids. I once had the good fortune to meet a small family in the park where I walked my dog. Lost their jobs in Oklahoma, came here hoping for a chance at jobs and better life. They did not want to separate so in the park they hid their makeshift beds under the bushes. The youngster, was angel straight from the heavens ,we had several chats over the course of a week. They disappeared,I had hoped they came upon the good luck to get into a shelter together.Turns out I run into the woman sometime later, she says "We are so blessed! My husband had a stroke and is in the VA Hospital, so a kind woman took me and the boy in. With out my husband people are more helpful to us." Our local school at the time(before no child left behind) welcomed any and all children in the area .the wonderful principal Her name, Deila Armstrong, had a firm policy. "Some of our neighbors are transient due to homelessness,we want every child to come any day as many days as they can.Even if it is a week here and a week there they are busy learning while we have them." It has changed of course because all that American government cares about is how the kids test.jSo they can close schools nad privatize them.I hope these 6 kid and all of the other families torn apart by economics find their way back to each other...thanks for the Blues Todd...So many current topics to pull them from... It was such a pleasure to finally meet you, you are so gracious and generous with your time.
Read an article in Dwell magazine recently about an in demand Japanese architect who designs living spaces made to fit in a standard parking space. American culture baby!
Thanks for the reality check Todd...Love the blues even, when it makes you feel the pain of this unfortunate situation...Your perspective is appreciated and makes me open my own thought process...peace
